Our Program: Facilities
The Reptile Store, located in Hamilton Ontario, takes pride in its Summer Camp facility! Our camp has exploded with popularity since its small beginnings in 2006!
Located beside the Reptile Store is our very own camp facility. We only use this unit for our summer camp, and our educational programs!
Paul “The Reptile Man” Kennedy has created a masterpiece of art on the walls in our camp room! This room will stimulate the imagination of campers and students of all ages!
To contact Paul for rates on painting your walls email him here! These walls make great backdrops for us to take amazing photographs of your children with our animals!
Other amenities include a 70 ft x 20 ft activity and games room, a nocturnal room, an indoor Barn Owl enclosure, 2 Washrooms, camp office, 50 ft x 30 ft education center, and a 40 ft x 30 ft program room!
At our summer camp location we have also collected the equipment we need to educate your children on the natural world! We have an extensive preserved wildlife collection including animal skulls, bones, feathers, skins, tracks, and models. Our collection is always growing… so you never know what we are going to have this year!
We have also collected over 100 wildlife and nature books, animal x-rays and a x- ray board, games and activities, maps, globes and atlas and of course our very knowledgeable camp staff. If your child is a nature freak we have their fix!
During the summer camp months we borrow some animals from friends to house at the camp facilities! Last year we had over a dozen different parrot species, hedgehogs, sugar gliders and more!
The summer camp location has its own entrance and exits, separate from the Reptile Store. This is a great way for us to keep an eye on the children. No one is permitted into the summer camp facilities during camp unless you are a staff member, a camper, or a parent!
Mix all this in with the stores facilities, and of course the 2,000 live animals that live at the store, with our guest speakers and their animals, and our road trips to zoos to work with their staff and their animals makes for one wild summer at the Reptile Store Summer Camp!
